USST Carter Continues Unbeaten Streak

CLERMONT, Ind. — When you’re on a roll you’re on a roll.

Allen Carter kept his United States Super Truck presented by Safety Kleen national series unbeaten streak intact Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Raceway of Indianapolis.

Carter led the entire 44-lap distance for his third victory in three series tries in 2011.

The race, in front of a good-sized crowd on UAW Night at LOR, was cut to 44 laps as rain started to fall on the racing surface. The finish at the top was hardly in doubt though as Carter had built an 11-second advantage.

Fifteen-year old Camden Murphy, Itasca, Ill., kept the series championship in his sights. He started outside of Carter at the green flag, had a horrid first few laps, but recovered to pass Joey Shuryan on Lap 29 and take second at the checkers.

Shuryan, Dearborn, Mich., was followed by Marshall, Mich.’s David Stone and Eric Caudell, Piedmont, Okla. Only the top four finished on the lead lap.

The race was halted just as quickly as the green flag flew. Caudell spun entering Turn Four and collected Blair on the opening circuit.

Blair lost oil and had to make repairs during the red flag. He worked back to seventh by the end.

The second start was the charm as it went caution free after that.

Carter also set the bar in qualifying, turning a lap in 23.717 and over 104 miles per hour.

The event was run in conjunction with the Advance Racing Association season closer. John Wickes, Ypsilanti, Mich., was the highest finishing MC2 Home Inspections Pro Truck taking sixth ahead of Blair. Wickes clinched the 2011 ARA championship.

The USST finishes its national series season Oct. 29 at Nashville, Tenn.

Damon Breedlove led all 30 laps for his first career ARA PXP Racewear Modified feature, beating Scotty Tomasik, Blair, Rodney Cropper and Jim Begley.

Waukesha, Wis.’s Rick Tackman, Jr. paced all 20 laps of the Cline Grain Late Model main. Tim Salyers used his runner up finish to clinch the season title. Michael Cline, Glenn Andrew and Mark Sweet rounded out the Top Five.

The event concludes the 2011 ARA season. Announcements on the 2012 campaign are expected soon. Keep in touch by logging on to
